Why do companies always do this? It's not even just for video games, this goes for all other mediums. Do they think they're clever? Do they purposefully want something to die and not actually get money off of something like they're supposed to? It just blows my mind every time this happens, and the worst part is that it is happening to so many things. And the few times it does work like with Monkey Ball it just isn't worth it in the end. No wonder why indie games now more than ever try to stay independent and keep getting bigger that way compared to most AAA games. I wish all corporations monopolizing on properties of older games only to ruin them and never bring them back afterwards would die in a fire. Rare and anything bought by EA are other more prominent examples of this trend. And because all of the money they send to buy them only to lose value afterwards from all of this, it still. Keeps. Happening, even to this day... They need to stop selling themselves out man. Video games can be more than just products, they can also be art, but in the end they all get thrown out in the trash with nobody else being able to use those IP's anyways. I'm so sad. :(

I love ECCO, I love the idea of it....but honestly I was never even able to get past the opening stage, though I never had the game myself so wasn't really able to try that very much, I do have it on the mega drive collection though, but by the time I got that I no longer had the time or inclination to obsessively play games (or rather I absolutely did but wisely chose not to) I a.temptwd though.....

A remake of Kid Chameleon with better controls and some of the level design foibles fixed would be pretty fun. I personally thought KC's approach to power-ups and its arcade-y style were pretty cool when I played it recently.

This game has always had passionate fans but I think it's a bland charmless mess.

Game journalism back then was just as bad as it is today, just no one could call them out on it.

I love this game. But ah... it's pretty easy after beating it well over a dozen times. That said, until I actually beat it a few times it was a very challenging game. Those review magazines are full of crap, none of them have actually played the game past the first hour or so. As for my personal rating, I think it's one of the best platformers of that era and I actually like it more than Super Mario World. As for the controls... ah, sorry to say it but you just suck. They are a bit slippery, but they feel very good and reward skill once you know how to properly use them. Never had a whole lot of trouble with precision jumping either.

This was one of the few Genesis games I had as a I kid, still have it actually, and as such I played it a lot. My problem was, for the most part, the length. You could play it for what it felt was hours and you didn't have any clue if you were close to the end. Remembering now, what you say of the difficulty rings true. The game overall felt quite standard. It was just that at times the game decided to ruin your day and throw everything it had at you. Oddly enough, my copy doesn't boast neither the amount of levels or the amount of screens. I'm guessing it's part of a second print or something.

INCREDIBLE VIDEO DOUJINSHINJI AND SPARKIE!!! What a blessed time to be alive, to experience another new A+ DoujinShinji video. Funny enough, there was a period of time in like 2017 where one of my friends would bring over their retro games for us to play through, and one of them was Kid Chameleon! (We never beat it though) I have a vivid memory of playing this game for the first time, getting to the level you talked about at @20:48, and my friend telling me "Now, brace yourself, in this level, you will have...A CHOICE." I remember thinking to myself what could that possibly mean? Then I got to the end @20:58, took the lower path, then laughed like crazy as I realized that I chose wrong and how the level just screws over first-timers. Incredible voice over work Doujinshinji, the jokes and gags were great, I cracked up at the bit @15:18, and incredible editing work Sparkie! I saw some of the behind-the-scenes pictures on Sparkie's twitter detailing some of the 3D Kid Chameleon box stuff @36:58, and I can tell it was a labor of love. Looks beyond incredible!

The ending disturbed me as a child

As someone who recently used the infinite lives glitch to play through this game for the first time and ALMOST CALLED IT QUITS this is an excellent video! It perfectly puts into words how I felt when playing it. It took me NINE hours to beat when using infinite lives and save states. Yeah, I'm not that good at the game but KC truly does go out of its way to punish you for not being good enough. Great watch!
